Rimu-Lou Scarf

Level of Difficulty: Easy
Yarn Weight: 3-Light Weight
Level of Concentration: A good “road trip” knit.

Rimu-Lou is named after two items: the yarn, Zealana RIMU, 60% NZ Merino, 40% Possum, and our friend Cheezy Luigi who in December asks for a scarf. What to knit for a stylish guy who’s neck is cold? But a reversible cable ribbed scarf in a Merino Possum blend.

The Rimu-Lou Scarf is a unisex ribbed scarf. A pattern with a cable, of one simple pattern instruction, repeated every eleventh row. Making the workmanship appear much more complex than it is. An interesting enough effort for any knitter and dull enough for any man to appreciate. There is enough concentration required to watch scenery while focussing on the cable when called upon.

This is a great hat for winter and makes a fun gift.
Two ply is carried in our favorite yarns for felting this project: 2 skeins of Cascade 220 or 2 skeins of Brown Sheelp Lamb’s Pride.
Depending on how you block your finished project you can end up with a variety of styles: photos show a Fedora or Cloche.
Tonia has taught many Felted Cloche classes as a second step knitting class at Wabi-Sabi in Ottawa and it has always been a big hit.
The increasing and decreasing become “washed out” and if you make a wee error remember… “a lot comes out in the wash”.

DO NOT USE SUPERWASH FOR THIS PROJECT!

Have fun felting!
